Dr Byron Oram is a highly experienced clinician of more than 20 years who is passionate about improving the patient journey and delivering excellence in radiology for both patients and referrers. 

Byron has a special interest in radiology-guided procedures for pain relief and is one of the few New Zealand radiologists providing image-guided radiofrequency and chemical ablation for nerve pain. 

Byron spent five years in the role of Managing Partner at Pacific Radiology Australia before returning to Canterbury.

He completed his radiologist specialist training in Dunedin in 2022, followed by a sub-specialist fellowship in musculoskeletal imaging and intervention in 2024. He combines his role at Pacific Radiology with an ongoing position as a general radiology consultant at Dunedin Public Hospital and lecturer for University of Otago medical school.

Dr Monica Saini completed her medical and radiology training in the U.S., including a fellowship in women’s imaging from the University of Washington. With over 15 years of patient care experience across the US and New Zealand, we are delighted that when Monica closed The Breast Institute, she chose to join us as Radiologist Lead, Breast Imaging, for the Wellington region.

In previous roles at GE Healthcare and Volpara Health Technologies (Chief Medical Officer / Board Director 2018-2021) Monica’s work included early detection of breast cancer, supporting breast cancer research, and international physician education for breast imaging technologies. Her TEDx Wellington talk in 2019 “Breast Density: A Personal Biomarker Of Cancer” continued her advocacy for breast cancer awareness and education.

After graduating from Linköping University, Sweden, he completed his radiology training in Stockholm and subsequently undertook at Fellowship in Interventional and Vascular Radiology. A PhD student at Karolinska Institutet, one of the world's leading medical universities, Carl is conducting research on screening for osteoporosis using Digital X-ray Radiogrammetry (DXR). We are delighted to have Carl at Pacific Radiology Canterbury, where he works for both PRG and Heart Vision alongside his role as an Interventional Radiology Consultant at Christchurch Hospital.
