Based in Otago/Southland, Dr Gabriel Lau brings overseas experience to his role alongside a range of clinical interests and specialisations. Gabriel graduated from Otago University, completed his radiology training in Dunedin and moved to Singapore to live and work for four years before returning. He has been practising since 1993 and enjoys contributing to successful health outcomes for his patients.

Dr Chris Leaper is a highly experienced radiologist who has been in practice since 1985. With a career spanning over 35 years Chris utilises his extensive expertise in his role.

Dr Gary Lee studied medicine at the University of New South Wales and subsequently completed Dentistry with Honours and Masters of Surgery with Sydney University.

His clinical experience includes work as a neurosurgical registrar and as an advanced trainee in Maxillofacial surgery.

Dr Howard Lee is a highly respected Consultant Interventional Radiologist and a Specialist in advanced vascular and nonvascular interventions who leverages the latest minimally invasive techniques and devices to achieve the best possible outcomes for his patients. Through close collaboration with his medical colleagues, Dr Lee ensures that each patient receives the highest standards of care.

After completing his radiology residency and fellowship Howard was appointed attending physician and assistant professor at Seoul National University Hospital. Following this, he joined Christchurch Hospital as a consultant in 2019. Dr Lee further expanded his clinical expertise and academic contributions as an assistant professor at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Centre in the United States before returning to Christchurch in 2024.

Dr Rachael McEwing has over 20 years’ experience in radiology and has been a member of our team since 2012. Rachael is a strong advocate for quality and equity in Obstetric Ultrasound. She was the Chair for the New Zealand Obstetric Ultrasound Guidelines group which published the national guideline in 2019 and the updated version in 2024. 
In addition to her radiology work, Rachael has gained significant governance experience having served on the Board of Directors for both Pacific Radiology and Reflect Ultrasound. She is also a member of the Institute of Directors New Zealand.

Dr Stephen Merrilees has more than 20 years’ experience delivering quality care in both public and private healthcare settings. He currently holds two Managing Radiologist appointments at RHCNZ - Pacific Radiology Waikato and Auckland Radiology. While Steve works in all areas of Body Imaging and Intervention, he has a special interest in Hepatobiliary and Vascular Imaging and Intervention.

Throughout his career, Steve has been highly involved in academic medicine. He has published in peer reviewed journals, co-written book chapters, and been involved in local and international meetings as both invited Faculty and Convenor. In addition to his academic endeavours, Steve has previously held several prestigious appointments including:
•    NZ branch representative of the Interventional Radiology Society of Australasia (IRSA)
•    Australasian Committee member for the Asia Pacific Society of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology (APSCVIR)
•    NZ representative for the Conjoint Committee for the Recognition of Training in Peripheral Endovascular Therapy (CCRTPET)

Dr Vijayan Moodley qualified as a consultant radiologist in 2004 then joined a prominent private radiology group in Durban. He practised there for more than 15 years, gaining wide experience in all aspects of radiology, with a particular interest in Interventional Radiology.

Vijayan joined Pacific Radiology in Wellington / Manawatū in 2022.
